In the work, the authors present their own experience of surgical treatment of post-burn
cicatricial adduction contracture of the thumb (85 hands) in 78 patients aged 2 to 45 years. Local plastic
surgery was used on 82 hands and skin-fat flaps were used on 3. Full-thickness skin grafts were used
only on 11 hands (12.9%) as an addition to local plastic surgery. Long-term results were observed in 72
(92.3%) patients, on 77 (90.6%) hands. The results of operations on 75 hands (97.4%) were good and
satisfactory. In 2 cases, a year after surgery, repeated corrective intervention was required, after which
the functional state of the hand improved significantly. The authors consider post-burn adduction
contracture of the first finger of the hand to be one of the complex variants of contractures, the main
method of treatment for which is local plastic surgery.
