Fundamentals of Theoretical and Methodological Research and the Mental Interpretation of the Quran

This article discusses the theoretical and methodological foundations of researching rational (mental) interpretations in Islamic scholarship. It highlights the established constancy of the text, recitation, and script of the Holy Qur’an in Islam, while exploring the studies focused on understanding its guidance, teachings, and rulings. The article further elaborates on the classification of Qur'anic interpretations into categories such as at-tafsir bil-ma’thur (interpretation based on transmitted reports), at-tafsir bir-ra’y (interpretation based on opinion), tafsir batiniy (esoteric interpretation), and tafsir ishoriy (symbolic interpretation), as found in works dedicated to Qur'anic sciences. Additionally, it outlines the necessary qualifications for exegetes (mufassirs) who engage in interpreting the meanings of the Qur’anic verses.
