The article shows that one of the most challenging and persistent issues for language learners are the grammatical gender of Uzbek nouns. The term “gender” in linguistics formation and intensive development of the study of gender in linguistics occurs at the end of the XX century. Language learners need to understand how each of the three genders—masculine, feminine, or neuter—affects other language components in order for everything to come together in a grammatically sound utterance. This goes beyond simply learning and identifying the gender of each word. Learning and using this new grammatical idea can be particularly challenging for learners, especially those whose L1 language, like English, does not assign a grammatical gender. Learning and comprehending this grammatical concept is crucial to acquiring Uzbek because gender is strongly related to syntactic concerns in even the simplest phrases. Although gender may be one of the most difficult notions to understand in Uzbek, all students must deal with it from the very beginning.
