Accurate measurement of pollution levels is critical for environmental monitoring, regulatory compliance, and public health protection. This study explores the role of metrology in enhancing the precision and reliability of environmental pollution measurements. We focus on air and water quality metrics, examining how metrological advancements contribute to the detection and quantification of pollutants such as particulate matter, greenhouse gases, heavy metals, and other toxic substances. The paper reviews current measurement techniques, including spectroscopy, sensor-based monitoring, and remote sensing technologies, as well as the challenges associated with calibration and uncertainty management in fluctuating environmental conditions. By analyzing case studies and recent technological developments, we highlight how standardized measurement practices and traceability improve the accuracy and comparability of environmental data. The findings underscore the importance of robust metrological frameworks in environmental monitoring systems, ultimately supporting more informed decision-making in environmental protection and public health.
