Abstract

This paper discussed the security management strategic in Nigerian’ schools. The paper is a review paper that depend secondary data. The secondary data were collected from print and online publications. The paper concluded that school security is critical to sustainable school system in Nigeria. The various effective school management security strategies available includes; The paper revealed that access control measures, installing surveillance cameras, emergency response plans, security personnel training and deployment, visitor management, lockdown system, mobile solutions, communication systems, intrusion detection systems and perimeter security are some of the security management strategies available for school manager to deploy to curtain insecurity problems in their various schools. Based on this findings, and considering the important of school security to stable academic environment, the paper hereby recommends that government should increase the budgetary allocation to school to allow school managers acquire modern securities facilities and infrastructure facilities. Government and private institutions should organize capacity building on effective school security for both school managers, teachers and students. This will help to create awareness on school safety consciousness
