Abstract

This paper assessed the impact of staff training on academic staff job performance in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The paper is a review paper that depend secondary data. The secondary data were collected from print and online publications. The paper revealed that staff training is very vital to the actualization of tertiary institutions’ goals and objectives. The concluded that staff training has great impact on academic staff job performance in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The paper specifically noted that staff training improves the productivities of academic staff and motivate them to be committed to institutions’ visions. Based on this findings, the paper recommend that government should take the staff training programme of tertiary institutions seriously and the budgetary provision annually should be increased to meet the demand of the staff in the various institutions across country.
