Abstract

The article examines the peculiarities of teaching a foreign language for tour guides. The relevance of the study lies in the unstoppable dispute regarding the effective language training of guides. The main problem that tourists often face is the high level of education of guides in the field of general history, local history, but weak language training. The purpose of the article is to determine the specifics of teaching a foreign language for guides. The author sets a number of tasks: the study of questions regarding the effectiveness of English for specific purposes in higher education, the study of the differences between English for Specific Purposes and English for Occupational Purposes; the analysis of the concept of language training in the field of tourism; the specifics definition of teaching a foreign language for guides, as for a separate professional direction in the field of tourism; the analysis of methods, used for the training of tour guides.
