Introduction:
The media plays a vital role in reducing the spread of the phenomenon of drug abuse and addiction, by providing awareness messages aimed at convincing the public of the extent of the danger of this phenomenon to society. Drugs are a major challenge that greatly affects the social, health and economic conditions of Iraq, as Iraqi society suffers from this phenomenon, which is one of the most dangerous sources of threat to society and the security of future generations.
Chapter One: Methodological Framework of the Research
First: The research problem:
The research problem was represented in the lack of media campaigns to raise awareness and enhance media awareness among young people to combat drugs and their spread in society.
Second: The importance of the research:
The importance of the research lies in studying the role of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior in providing awareness campaigns that support enhancing media awareness among young people to combat drugs, by identifying the most prominent activities, seminars and awareness information provided to young people and the extent of their impact in reducing the spread of smoking and drugs among young people in Iraq.
Third: Research objectives:
The study aims to achieve a number of basic objectives, the most prominent of which are:
- Identify the campaigns organized by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior to enhance media awareness among young people in combating drugs
- Monitor the extent to which awareness programs contribute to reducing the spread of drugs among young people within the media system aimed at protecting Iraqi society.
- Measuring the extent of Iraqi youth’s satisfaction with awareness programmes, and their positive impact in guiding them towards a drug-free life.
