Abstract

The impact of disorders of menstrual bleeding, now termed abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), is considerable, with prevalence ranges from 3% to 30% in the reproductive-age population. AUB is one of the most common reasons for women to attend their general practitioner (GP) and subsequently, a gynaecologist, and there is an age-related increase in AUB at the start and end of reproductive life (adolescents and perimenopausal age groups).
