Abstract

This study examines the challenges and methodologies of preserving imagery in literary translation, focusing on the delicate balance between semantic fidelity and artistic integrity. Through comparative analysis of multiple translations of selected literary works from Uzbek to English and vice versa, this research identifies key strategies employed by translators to maintain figurative language, cultural metaphors, and stylistic imagery across linguistic boundaries. The findings suggest that successful preservation of imagery relies on a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical approaches, including cultural compensation, dynamic equivalence, and creative adaptation. This paper contributes to translation studies by proposing a comprehensive methodology for translators to effectively navigate the complex terrain of literary imagery transfer across languages.
